Jason Brand

Jason joined DSPolitical in March of 2024 after spending the last five election cycles as an organizer and regional organizing director on various campaigns across the country. Jason is a native Washingtonian and a lifelong resident of the DMV. He attended and graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2016 (GO DAWGS!) with a BA in Geography with a focus in Environmental Policy. He started his political career as an intern on Chris Van Hollen’s first campaign for the US Senate in March of 2016 as an intern. Because if his work ethic he was quickly promoted to Deputy Field Organizer. It was there he realized that there was much more to working in politics than he realized.

After graduating from college, he interned for the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club as their Political Intern. His primary responsibility was managing the statewide election program for the 2018 midterms in which they were able to flip a County Executive seat and extend a Democratic supermajority in the Maryland General Assembly by flipping two State Senate seats that were held by entrenched Republicans. In 2022 Jason worked for NextGen America as the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Organizing Director. He managed a staff of campus organizers to register college students to vote, get them engaged in the political process, and then turn them out to the polls on Election Day. The canvassing operation, combined with NextGen America’s multi-pronged statewide outreach program, was able to contact 90% of registered Pennsylvania voters between the ages of 18 and 29. This proved crucial to multiple Democratic victories across the state.

When not at work, Jason loves to cook for family and friends. He is an avid guitar player and has been playing since he was in high school. He also loves watching the Capitals, Nationals, and Orioles. At home he likes to spend his time watching movies and listening to his record collection with his cat, Bagheera, and Facetiming with his brother Jonathan, a research scientist, his sister-in-law, Ali, an attorney, and his niece.
