Inside DSPolitical’s Award-Winning Engineering Team

To better understand how our engineering team builds tools that help campaigns win, we spoke with team members, Amadeo, Erin, and Ryan, about their favorite projects, how they collaborate across departments, and what makes working in political tech so meaningful.

Our engineering team has been named Engineering Team of the Year by the 2024 Campaigns & Elections CampaignTech Awards for four consecutive years — a testament to their consistent excellence, collaborative spirit, and mission-driven focus. Their work powers Deploy, our award-winning platform that continues to set the standard in political ad tech. Deploy has been recognized by both the 2025 Reed Awards and the 2024 CampaignTech Awards, further affirming its impact and innovation.

Q: While working on Deploy, what has been your favorite feature you have worked on so far?

Amadeo: One of my favorite features I’ve worked on in Deploy was getting Freewheel CTV targeting live and running as the first partner, just in time for the 2024 election cycle. It was incredibly exciting to both work on the implementation and see it featured in news coverage.

Ryan: My favorite feature I’ve worked on was integrating Yahoo’s DSP into Deploy ahead of the last election cycle. It was the first project I took on after joining the team and ended up being a major initiative that touched a large portion of our codebase. It was a great introduction to how collaborative this team is, and it was rewarding to contribute to something that had a tangible impact throughout the cycle.

Q: What makes working on DSPolitical’s engineering team unique, especially in a political tech environment?

Amadeo: People are often surprised by how much our team can accomplish given its size. I believe that’s largely thanks to how much we care about our work, combined with a tight feedback loop and strong, open communication. That communication is built on a foundation of trust, which allows us to support one another and prioritize well-being, whether that means stepping away to recharge or speaking up when something’s blocking progress.

Erin: What makes this team unique is our deep commitment to the progressive cause. I’ve never worked with a group of engineers so passionate about our shared work and the mission we’re striving to achieve. This was especially evident during the last election; it was inspiring to see everyone come together and collaborate toward a common goal.

Q: Can you share a recent feature or improvement your team built, and how it’s supporting campaigns nationwide?

Erin: We recently released a new feature for Deploy called Content Categories. This enhancement allows clients to restrict advertising to specific sites and apps based on category, helping their campaigns appear on the most relevant and impactful screens.

Ryan: One recent feature I’m especially proud of is the addition of Creative Weighting in Deploy. While a lot of our engineering work involves infrastructure or behind-the-scenes improvements, this feature was highly visible to users and addressed a frequently requested need. It gives campaigns greater flexibility in how creatives are distributed.

Q: What’s collaboration like at DSPolitical, and what advice would you give to engineers considering a role here?

Ryan: I think there is fantastic collaboration between engineering and other teams. There’s a strong sense of mutual respect and shared purpose. Our commitment to our mission-focused work helps prevent the kind of interdepartmental tension that’s common elsewhere.  For engineers considering a role here, my advice is to be ready to move fast and stay flexible. Urgency drives much of our work, but that’s also what makes it so meaningful.

Final Thoughts

DSPolitical’s engineering team is driven, mission-focused, and building the technology that helps Democrats win. Whether they’re launching new features in Deploy or collaborating across departments, these engineers prove that purpose and innovation go hand in hand.
