Audrey Sonntag is the Director of Data Engineering at DSPolitical. Originally from Washington, D.C., she now lives in the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Before joining DSPolitical, Audrey spent ten years running her own consulting business, supporting more than twenty organizations in D.C. and beyond, including major labor unions, issue advocacy groups, and nonprofit organizations. She began her career as a high school intern with NCEC, where she first learned to code while automating repetitive work.
Although she earned her bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in her late twenties, Audrey considers herself largely self-taught as an engineer and analyst. She is passionate about mentorship and teaching, both as a way to support others entering the field and as a reflection of the guidance she received throughout her own career.
Outside of work, Audrey serves as a head coach and organizer for the Girls Code Club at the Lancaster Science Factory, where she teaches young women ages eight to thirteen interested in coding and technology. She is also deeply involved in the local community, having managed her friend Marshall Miller’s successful City Council campaign and helping her partner teach two-step dance lessons at his monthly honky-tonk event in Lancaster.
In her spare time, Audrey designs posters for recurring music and arts events in Lancaster and Philadelphia and takes design classes at a local art school. Most evenings, you can find her either out listening to live music or at home watching Jeopardy! with her partner, Danny, and their pit bull, Lemon.
