My name is Michael Figueroa. I am a strong advocate for Democratic and progressive political causes and campaigns. With my past experience, I have interned with a state representative in 2018 and worked on congressional campaigns in 2020 and 2022 for the State of Florida. Growing up in Miami with Venezuelan immigrant parents, I learned about hard work and community and how those two aspects of my life are not mutually exclusive. I studied political science at the University of Florida, where I was the first in my household to earn a 4-year degree.
After graduating from college, I moved to Washington, DC to work at a civic education nonprofit where I lead weekly civic lessons for students all over the United States. In my last endeavor, I worked for a nonprofit that promoted college, career, and community resources to low-income immigrant youth around the DMV. Prior to moving to DC, I also worked in media as a production assistant at Telemundo for the Emmy-winning coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
During my free time, I play video games, watch movies, hang out with my friends, and my cat. I also enjoy exploring DC and taking photos of anything all over the city.
